A 263-acre estate on the New York-Connecticut border that formerly was owned by the Sulzberger clan (the New York Times family) has come on the market in the last week for $95,000,000.

Coverage of the listing has been all over the news in the last few days, including in a piece on CNBC this morning. Known as Hillandale, the estate is owned by travel company owner Gilbert Haroche and his wife Charlene, who purchased it in 1992 for $6.7 million. Sotheby’s is marketing the property as being in Pound Ridge, N.Y., even though it’s actually located both in Pound Ridge and in Stamford, Conn. and has a Stamford mailing address.

Features on the estate, which is at 1233 Rock Rimmon Road in Stamford, include five and a half miles of roads, its own chapel, a private lake, two barns, an indoor pool, an outdoor pool, a pool house and a tepee. Among the property’s five houses is the 23-room, 20,000-square-foot main house, which has eight bedrooms and 14 baths (10 full and four half) and which the Haroches expanded from its original 10,000 square feet to its current size, according to listing information and the Courant. Other features in the English country manor-style mansion include nine fireplaces.
