Located on the Western edge of Phoenix, Glendale is a convenient 20 minutes from Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport.
As Arizona's fourth-largest city and home to the 2008 Super Bowl, Glendale offers travelers a wide variety of amenities including the famous Historic Downtown shopping district, legendary special events and festivals, museums and cultural attractions, and a growing number of professional sports facilities.
Glendale is a well-planned blend of Old West and New Economy. It's one of the fast-growing Arizona cities, yet remains most famous for its well-preserved charm. We welcome you to discover Glendale.
Historic Downtown Glendale has been named by USA Today & Sunset Magazine as one of the country's ten best places for antique shopping but savvy shoppers also find a medley of imports, jewelry, art, crafts, collectables, and bath and body accessories. In fact, Historic Downtown Glendale is actually two neighborhoods - Historic Catlin Court with its white picket fences and mature shade trees welcoming visitors to the Bungalows-turned-specialty shops, and Old Towne boasting brick-trimmed sidewalks and glowing gaslights leading the way to the famous antique stores. The neighborhoods span 10 square blocks which can easily be strolled in an afternoon. In addition to Historic Downtown, shoppers can also delight at one of the largest malls in the region - the beautifully-designed Arrowhead Towne Center. Conveniently located just off the Loop 101 freeway, the mall features water fountains, a hand-carved carousel, a movie theater and more than 170 shops and restaurants.
And for entertainment, the Bell Road Corridor is home to an enviable collection of rave restaurants. In addition, the soon-to-be-completed sports complex will redefine Glendale dining and night life when completed in 2006.
Nature & Adventure
Glendale is also a playground for the outdoor and athletic enthusiast. Thunderbird Mountain Park hugs the northern edge of the community and welcomes hikers and bikers of all abilities. Views from the top include beautiful Arrowhead Ranch, a community of homes, parks and lakes as well as one of the wealthiest zip codes in the state. Because of its 300-plus days of sunshine each year, Glendale is also home to the world's largest fighter-pilot training facility, Luke Air Force Base. The base is home to more than 300 aircraft, and a number of its 8,000 personnel can be seen zipping through the sunset daily.
Golf & Sports
Crack of the bat. Rev of the engine. Thud of a perfect tackle. Crunch of a shoulder into the glass. Forget your serenity CD, these are the new sounds of the desert. Or at least in the desert of Arizona Avenues - an area fast becoming the nation's newest sports mecca with a lineup of professional football, hockey, lacrosse, baseball, auto racing and home to the 2008 Super Bowl - all of which exude, embrace and even fuel, that famous Arizona Heat.

The City of Glendale is hosting the 2008 Super Bowl contest next February 3, 2008 at the newly named University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale just off the 101 freeway.
